"I'm a pretty self-sufficient, self-guided person though my answers have often been hidden within excuses and old beliefs, which were frustrating and paralyzing. Reggie helped me see through all the rhetoric and pointed me towards my heart's desire, using a combination of what's written on my own hands and her extraordinary gift of divining the truth. I never would have had the courage to dub myself an "artisan" without Reggie's unique support. Thank you from the bottom of my artsy heart, Reggie."

Beyond "The Wall" - The Decision That Leads to Breakthrough
By Reggie Odom

Have you hit a wall in your business, in your life? Don't turn back yet.

We have all felt the proverbial "wall" in our lives and businesses at least once. When you hit a wall further effort feels impossible. Doors seem to close, options seem to disappear...

"The wall" is well known to marathoners. Nearly half of all marathoners have hit "the wall" during at least one marathon. This happens around the 20-mile mark of the 26.2 mile course, after you have gone over eighty percent of the distance.

I experienced "the wall" in the New York City marathon some years ago. My mind screamed out, "I'm going to quit, this is ridiculous." The discomfort felt unbearable. The heaviness of my body concurred.

Both physical and mental factors can play a part in "the wall." But what I learned in this marathon that is also true for business and the rest of life is that while addressing the physical is essential...

The real wall is always a mental one. There is an aspect of the mind that fears going into new territory, beyond the comfort zone of what you currently see, know, believe or have experienced before. So it erects a wall, sometimes without a moment's notice and with the intention of stopping you in your tracks.

Many have a habit of quitting when they hit this wall, many quit even before.

It works like this...

There is something you want to change. Or you have an exciting new idea, desire or dream that you want to implement. You begin thinking about it and moving toward it.

It's new territory. You experience some measure of discomfort. It increases. You reach a point where the discomfort becomes extreme, seemingly impossible to withstand.
The extreme discomfort becomes a justification to quit, to go back to the old way or to try yet something else. Most people do. But...

There is one major antidote to insure you won't be stopped by "the wall." This antidote is most effective before the marathon ever begins, whatever the marathon is for you. But it can also work once you hit the wall. The antidote is to....

Make the decision. When you have an idea, dream or deep desire the most important step to turn it into reality is to decide to do it.
There are two parts to this decision.

The first part is to make the decision before you know how to turn your idea into reality. "How" doesn't matter at this point. The decision ignites the hows.

The second part is to make a real decision. When you make a real decision you are not buffeted about by other considerations or emotional discomfort. The decision is more important from the moment of the decision until it becomes reality. There is no other way.

A real decision decreases your chances of hitting a wall. But it doesn't guarantee that you won't.

If you hit a wall anyway it will be because of fears and limiting beliefs at work in your subconscious that have previously kept you from breaking through to a new level.

A real decision will take you through and beyond the wall. Even when it seems impossible to take another step there is something at work within you to move you forward.

There comes a moment when you are beyond the wall. I had made a decision to finish the New York City Marathon three months before I ran it.

After I hit the wall at twenty miles something beyond my conscious mind had me take one more step, and then one more before quitting. Suddenly I began to hear the cheering crowds along the route. I looked up and saw the enthusiastic support in their faces. Then everything shifted.
In a moment that I will always remember I knew I was going to finish what just a few moments before had felt impossible. From that moment, the last six plus miles were some of the easiest of the entire marathon.

I crossed the finish line. That experience now lives in my bones. I know that I can do it again if I choose to.

Moving through and beyond the wall is a breakthrough into a new level of consciousness. You will have transformed how you see yourself and what's possible for you. Your consciousness now includes success at a new level that can become the new norm.

Step Into Your Greatness!
Make a real decision and break through....
